Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge 01/23/2012

I went up to Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge which is just off Hwy. 14 outside Washogal, WA on Monday.

This is and bird's nest, maybe a Bald Eagle. 

Here is the Columbia River and Reed Island. 

Maybe this was the place the dairy was.

Wahkeena Springs 01/15/2012

We went up to Wahkeena springs via Multnomah Falls. It was my first snow of the new year and it made the gorge quite beautiful.

I hiked with a couple of guys who just got back from trekking around Mt. Everest and climbing Island Peak. Bob, Jim, Pam and Bruce went hiking with me (Jim and Bruce went of the Khumbu trek)

Hear the snow is thick as we come to the Devil's Rest/Wahkeena Springs junction.
