Mt. Adams 07/08/12

Andrew and Karen invited me up to climb Mt. Adams.  With Heath and his wife for a BCEP reunion of sorts.

Here is the my tent on the Lunch Counter,  Mt. Hood in the background.  

 

There were over 200 people scheduled to climb Mt. Adams this weekend, but the Lunch Counter where we camped still had plenty of room.  

 

Here a shot I got of Mt. St. Helens at sunset from our camp.

We are climbing now, t-shirt weather for all day except for the summit.  I also met some friends that had climbed early in the day (Parker's group), and a group that had climbed Mazama Glacier on Friday and were leaving Saturday.

This is the false summit called Piker's Peak, but we are close to the top.

Here is the summit shot of our group.  I think we made good time, in under four hours from the Lunch Counter to the summit of Mt. Adams elevation 12,281 ft.

The best part of the trip was coming down, there was a long glissade of 3,000 feet.   Some of the pictures are taken by my climb team and are copyrighted.

Rooster Rock 07/02/2012

Robin took up to Rooster Rock on Monday.  We had rescheduled it a couple times due to weather, but July turned out to be better than June I guess.  She had just graduated Advance Rock class so she led and placed protection while we prussiced up.

Rudolph Spur Way Trail 06/11/2012

Rex led this hike to  Rudolph Spur Way Trail.  Rudolph Spur is an unmaintained trial straight up with a little bit of route finding.  We parked at the Char Burger in Cascade Locks. We then went on the PCT, towards Dry Creek before veering off towards a climbers trail to Rudolph Spur.

We hiked down Ruckle Creek trail which was a rare treat because of it is so well maintained.

Wauneka Point & Nesmith Point Loop 06/06/2012

Wednesday I went with Tom on a streounous hike up to Wauneka Point & Nesmith Point Loop.  We started at John Yeon State Park.  This is Elowah Falls.

This is McCord Falls.

Here is where things got a little interesting.  This was an unmaintained trail up to Waukena Point.  Here I am fording McCord Creek.

Mt. Shasta 05/27/2012

We ate lunch above the clouds, which seemed to follow us up all day.  One the way down we had some fog, and we could only see like 10 feet in front of us.

I made a "Hi Mom" sign just for my summit shot.

Mt. Ellinor 05/19/2012

Andrew Leaf and I on the summit of Mt. Ellinor.   It was pretty packed, we glissaded down pretty much the whole snow slope of the mountain.  My longest glissade to date.  Mt. Ellinor elevation 5,952 ft.

Table Mountain 05/13/2012

I decided to go on a Portland Hikers Meetup hike for Mother's Day. Not the best way to spend my Mother's Day but I have Mt. Elinor, Mt. Hood, Mt. Shasta coming up in the next two weeks so I need to stay in shape.  Elevation: 3,417 ft.

I packed 6 liters of water and my rope among others things in my pack. My pack weighing at least 35 lbs. Here's the North side of Mt. Hood.

It was the hottest weather of the year high 80's. Here's Mt. Adams which I plan to climb in July.

Here's is Mt. St. Helen's from Table Mountain's summit. Andrew and Karen, Liz, and Amy and a bunch of other Mazamas are there for their annual Mother's Day Mt. St. Helen's climb.

Here's a little campsite which I may use when I come up on the Skamania County bus and camp and train.
